I Can’t Recommend This Phone *CHANGING TO: It Does Everything I Need – I’ve used Motorola for my last four phones. I ordered this Moto G Play (2021) to replace a Moto G4 Play which gave excellent service. The reason for changing was AT&T *updating* their service. After the update I was unable to make or receive voice calls. Data and messages worked fine, no voice calls. AT&T notified my carrier (Airvoicewireless who uses the AT&T system) that new SIM cards would be required for the upgraded service. Airvoicewireless sent me a new SIM but my phone still refused to connect for voice calls. I finally found information that AT&T was blacklisting older phones so I’d also have to buy a new phone. *sigh*

Should have returned it… – I bought this to use as a very basic phone for my elderly husband as his Consumer Cellular flip phone was no longer operable. Since this had pretty decent reviews, I was hopeful it would be sufficient for simple needs – phone calls, texts, emergency numbers, etc. However, I find that just the basics of putting certain icons on the phone, e.g., for contacts, messages, etc., is a challenge that I’ve never encountered in any of the numerous smartphones I’ve programmed for myself in the past 15 years or so. For his very basic needs, it seems to be sufficient in receiving calls, making calls, accessing texts, but it was a nightmare just setting up the home screen and now there are multiple icons for the same functions that I gave up on trying to clean up. It’s really the worst phone of many (all Android) I”ve set up in the past decades.

This renewed moto G play came as advertised – This device seems to be great, It looks very good and seems to work as it should. I gave it only 4 stars because I have not had it long enough to say 5.

Seems fine – I was quite happy with it, the only thing that made me a little miffed is that it’s supposed to be a birthday gift for my husband and came with a small chip in the side.

Decently fast, excellent battery life, terrible camera – Like many other people, I was forced to get a newer phone (I hesitate to use the word “upgrade”) because AT&T switched from 3G voice to 4G over LTE voice. This left a significant percentage of phones even a couple of years old not working on their voice service.

It’s big – Dont have an opinion on likes or dislikes. Sorry have not used face recognition or fingerprint reader.

Too low profile – I bought for use in a short period was excellent in the 2021 for sure, but in the 2022 isn t
